Some metres out from the finish line in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ex-Royal Commando and Paralympic athelete Gregg Stevenson, and his partner Lauren, could see the Chinese were ahead by some way. The commentators had all but ruled out the British team catching up. Just like in business, you see competitors who you perceive to be ahead, your plan doesn’t seem to be bringing in results…

It’s now or never. What do you do? Panic? Change plan? Start rowing faster? No, you sit in the uncomfortable. You trust your process, and keep executing to your highest standard. With this mindset, Gregg and Lauren overtook the chinese as they tired and faltered, and went on to win Olympic Gold. In times when it doesn’t seem to be going right, and we suffer from the curse of comparison, I’ll draw on this lesson and remember – “Trust the process and execute”.

Gregg Stevenson – the man.
